William
Graham from the Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana
(Hogarth Guild Edition-1970);
"In Eastern
philosophies a circle denotes completion. The yin-yang symbol is made
up of two paisley-shaped halves. Yang, the light half denotes heaven,
the creative, male. Yin, the dark half denotes earth, the receptive,
female. Each half contains a small circle of its opposite, as well.
Light and dark, male and female, creative and receptive, heaven and
earth."
"As
light is dependent upon dark
So man is dependent
upon woman.
As the creative
is dependent upon the receptive
So heaven is
dependent upon the earth.
Nature and
God-Yin and Yang.
The two halves
that form a perfect circle and completion."
A
Gentle Warning!
It
has been our experience at 60s & Further. that these ancient and
esoteric practices and techniques can be dangerous to those inexperienced
and naive to the incredible power they hold. We have known several
people that have practiced Kundalini Yoga, Tantra, Rebirthing and
other modalities, and have completely 'burned out' their brains, nervous
systems and emotional bodies. Not that you shouldn't explore these
sciences, but if you are serious and truly committed in learning them,
you indeed, need to seek the guidance of a true and bonafide instructor,
mentor or guru.
Further, if
you choose to undertake rituals and practices that harness forces
that you cannot even perceive, it can be as dangerous as Russian Roulette.
For example, in the use of Mantra, you are interacting with very powerful
forces, whether it is Tantra or Magick. To use a Mantra in ignorance
(or by simply reading a book) can be foolish, especially if you are
doing so in order to fulfill desire, lust, anger, pride, ambition,
envy, jealousy, etc. Just be very cautious and enjoy the adventure
of learning, exploring and your own passionate discovery.

Relationships
Shared
Heart: Relationship Initiations... and Celebrations
by Joyce and Barry Vissell,
with a foreward by Ram Dass.
-A
Hippie Classic'
If you are fortunate or lucky enough to have a partner willing to take
the time to actually do the techniques in this book, you will find ultimate
joy. This is a classic and really important work for any relationship
based on honesty, sensuality and living in spirit. This book encourages
growth and the need for constant 'refreshing' of your shared energies
instead of just 'getting by.' Both of you need to do the exercises seperatly
and together--or it will be just one more "wish we had a relationship
like that' book collecting dust on your shelves.
The stories and exercises are truly beautiful-- they will take all the
sef-honesty you have and bring up everything or most everything that
you have buried in order not to experience a total, open and loving
relationship with you and your ppartner.
Ecstasy
Is a New Frequency
by Chris Griscom.
CHRIS GRISOM EXPLAINS THE DIFFERENT BODIES THAT MAKE UP OUR EXPERIENCE.
THE
PHYSICAL BODY,WHAT OUR SOUL SELECTS AS THE VEHICLE IN WHICH TO
HAVE OUR INTERACTIONS,
THE
MENTAL BODY, WHICH CONTROLS THE PHYSICAL BODY AND CAN ACT AS
A TREMONDOUS BLOCK OR BRIDGE DEPENDING ON HOW IT IS USED TO FURTHER
SPRIRITUAL PROGRESS,
THE
SPRIRITUAL BODY,THE UNMANIFEST PART OF OURSELVES WHAT WE RECOGNIZE
IN OTHERS, LIKE WHEN WE FIRST MEET SOMEONE AND KNOW WE KNOW THEM, AND
THE
EMOTIONAL BODY, THE STICKY AND MOST EARTH BOUND PART OF HUMANS.
THE EMOTIONAL BODY KNOWS NO SENSE OF TIME OF SPACE IT IS COMPLETELY
SELF SEFFECIENT AND CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED BY THE SPIRITUAL BODY,
AND
SO IT IS UP TO US TO BECOME AWARE ENOUGH TO QUICKEN OUR FREQUENCY SO
THAT THE EMOTIONAL BODY CAN LIGHTEN AND RELEASE THE INFINITE AMOUNT
OF PAIN AND ANGER AND EXPERIENCE THAT IS HELD THERE, TO COME INTO THE
LIGHT. THERE IS SO MUCH IN THIS BOOK, COSMIC ORGASM, ASTRAL ENERGETICS,THE
UNENDING PULSATION OF LIFE AND DEATH, AND THAT AS WE PROCEED THAT TOO
WILL BECOME UNNECESSARY FOR OUR GROWTH. A STUNNING AND YES VERY CHALLENGING
BOOK, VERY VERY VERY MUCH WORTH THE EFFORT.
The Healing of Emotion: Awakening the Fearless Self
by Chris Griscom
A warm dunk for your whole being in the cosmic pool. Chris Griscom writes
with experience and solidarity that few can claim. The more i read other
authors the more i feel how practical the applications are that she
speaks of.Many authors get caught up in simply writing about the endless
mysteries of the universe, some give notions of what needs to be done
about it,but few offer such potent "exersizes in conciousness"
as she. There is a whole chapter in this book of them. Working with
light, the emotional body, your inner child, the benefits of spinning.
All of this is based on working with color as energy, feeding whatever
speck of the hologram that comes up at you with the "fuel"it
needs. This is a truly fulfilling thing to do for your soul daily.
In this book she writes about sexuality between parents and children,
the extreme entrapment of the emotional body that cant let go. How we
stay too long and become addicted to our parents then to our lovers
then to our children in our futile search to not bend, our fear of letting
go. As Chris says fear is the only disease on this planet. If you want
to read an author who will offer you an explanation and a tool to use
to help let go of your density and bring in the light, she is the one.Highly
recommended for those who dont just want to read about the coming Age
Of Light but want to be active members.
Conscious
Breathing and Oming
The
Breathing Book
by Donna Farhi.
An introduction to breathwork-especially important sections for the
shared breath for couples, minding the breath and cultivating mindfulness.
Concious
Breathing
by Gay Hendricks.
"In your lifetime you will breathe in and out more than a hundred
million times.... What if you made a tiny improvement in something you
did that many times?" So queries Hendricks, a professor of counseling
at the University of Colorado and author of Conscious Loving, at the
start of this quietly assured guide. His guided breathing exercises,
most done lying down and in combination with gentle movements, are designed
to free the movement of the diaphragm, increase oxygenation and relax
the body. Benefits can include stress reduction, pain management, improved
health and spiritual growth. In his discussion of the anatomy of breathing
"Ultimately,"
Hendricks asserts, "breathing can be a path to that most essential
of human experiences: learning to love." Thereafter, his amply
illustrated book provides basic and advanced breath-work lessons and
a 10-minute daily breathing program. Calling himself his "own best
client," Hendricks builds a convincing case for his addition to
alternative-healing therapies.
I suggest this book as a step to higher breathing techniques you will
find in certain Yoga techniques and therapies. A good place to start
learning about the importance of breath and breathing and how it affects
every aspect of your life including your sexuality, sensuality and overall
health.
Science
of Breath
by Swami Rama
-Highly Recommended-
People laughed at the image of pretzel-legged yogis focusing on the
tip of their noses- until Swami Rama walked into a laboratory and showed
scientists what a yogi with control over his respiration can actually
do. Before astonished researchers, he demonstrated perfect control over
his heart rate and brain waves- control physiologists hadnt believed
humans could possibly achieve.
For thousands of years, yogic adepts have claimed that breath is the
essential link between body and mind, energizing a subtle body which
connects the physical and mental aspects of our being. In this landmark
book, Swami Rama and two noted American physicians explore the science
of breath as the missing key to both physical health and the attainment
of higher states of consciousness. Basic yogic breathing techniques
are explained so that we can immediately begin working with this powerful
ancient science.
Path
of Fire and Light,
Vol. 1: Advanced Practices of Yoga
by Swami Rama
Visitors to 60s & Further can I please advise
you to make sure
you are first very well established in the first 2 levels of Yoga before
you embark on any Pranayama (breath-control).
-LionHeart-
First be steeped
in Yama(abstinences - alcohol, drugs, sex, meat, etc) and Niyama(observances
- love, kindness, non-harm, patience, etc) before moving on to asanas(postures)
and especially pranayama. Every swami will tell you that if you are
not living a committed Spiritual life in every respect, then practicing
the 4th level of Yoga - breathing exercises, especially the advanced
ones, can potentially be harmful. You should really only practice techniques
like this within the framework of a spiritual society and Guru-disciple
relationship. Breathing techniques force prana up the subtle spine,
thus awakening higher and higher chakra's. This process should occur
naturally and gradually as part of a disciplined spiritual life - it
should not be forced.
AUM:
a Meditation in Sound (Audio CD)
by Swami Rama
Recorded in an ancient shiva temple on the banks of the Ganges in Northern
India, Swami Rama chants AUM as the temple bells sympathetically resonate
and the entire temple vibrates and reverberates with this cosmic sound,
radiating peace and harmony throughout the universe.
Sensual
Scents and Aromas
Botanica
Erotica: Arousing Body, Mind, and Spirit
by Diane De Luca.
In this stunningly beautiful book, veteran herbalist Diana DeLuca shows
us how to use safe and available herbs in ways that enhance and increase
sensuality. . . . Much more than simply being a compendium of herbal
aphrodisiacs, Botanica Erotica is dedicated to exploring the realm of
the erotic by using your entire being.
"Botanica Erotica blends real herbalism with a joyful affirmation
of sensuality, one that can come only when real experience blends with
the consciousness of a green wise woman. A compendium of herbal
aphrodisiacs. Herbs to help enhance and increase your sensuality and
your partners. This is a beautiful book!!!
Essence
of Love: Fragrance, Aphrodisiacs, and Aromatherapy for Lovers
by Maggie Tisserand.
Smell is one of the lover's most important senses, and this interesting
book shows how to use perfumes and aromatic oils to engender and enhance
a romantic mood and subsequent loveplay. It includes an erotic history
of smell; unusual tips for scenting rooms, gift boxes, and personal
items; instructions in the art of massage; ways to achieve sexual fulfillment;
and a number of recipes for scented lotions. One small warning: although
many of the recipes belong to traditional aromatherapy--meant to soothe
the skin, relieve stress, and refresh the mind--a few make claims for
positive medical effects, such as those intended to cure cystitis or
genital lesions. To the author's credit, she does state that aromatic
remedies should not replace a visit to the doctor but can be used in
conjunction with professional medical care.
How to use perfumes and aromatic oils to enhance your sensual and sexual
life. A wonderful section on the erotic history of smell.
The
Fragrant Mind: Aromatherapy for Personality, Mind, Mood, and Emotion
by Valerie Ann Worwood
There are lots of chapters, including 8, which has wonderfully sensitive
and understanding text, plus oils and formulas, for an A-Z of "emotional
problems" from abuse, addictions, aggression, amnesia, anxiety,
apathy ..... and that's just the A's! And it's all so thorough - Under
addictions there's drug alcohol and nicotine addiction, each with suggested
oils and recipes to use. But, hey, this book is about positive mind
frame, so is equally thorough in it's advice for alertness, assertiveness,
concentration, confidence, contentment, creativity, focus, happiness,
joy, memory enhancement, peace, performance, positivity, restfulness,
self-awareness, self-esteen, self image.
Scents
and Scentuality: Essential oils and Aromatherapy for Romance, Love,
and Sex
by Valerie Ann Wormwood.
"A wondeful study in romantic and sexual aromatherapy. How essential
oils work to affect our emotions and hormonal release. Wow! The author
examines the powerful sense of smell and shows how pure essential oils
of nature can enhance the pleasures of daily life, with emphasis on
the romantic side of life. The chapters discuss questions like What
are essential oils? How to use them, The scentuous woman, The scentuous
man and Synergistic blends of oils, among others. The text includes
many tables of oils suitable to various body types and hair colours
as well as tables recommending the right oils for a variety of conditions
including tension, stress, anxiety and depression. This is quite an
authoritative book on essential oils and their applications with a beautifully
illustrated text. An extensive bibliography and index round off this
valuable contribution to the literature on the therapeutic uses of fragrance.
Definitely a must for aromatherapists and for practitioners of alternative
medicine."
The
Art of Sensual Aromatherapy: A Lover's Guide to Using Aromatic Oils
and Essences
by Nitya Lacroix, Sakina Bowhay
Sensual Aromatherapy shows you how to combine aromatic essential oils
with massage, allowing you to enhance your relationship sexually, emotionally,
and spiritually. Explore a holistic approach to sensual aromatherapy;
follow specially created massage programs; discover selfmassage;
follow aromatherapy recipes devised to create sexual openness; find
out which oils have aphrodisiac qualities; and learn how to create a
sensual ambience by evoking all the senses.
As alternative medicine becomes increasingly accepted, many therapies
are now being recommended by physicians to be used in conjunction with
orthodox medicine.
Nature's
Aphrodisiacs
by Nancy L. Nickell
Nancy Nickell is an educational writer, lecturer, research, and textbook
author in the subjects of food, nutrition, and alternative therapies,
In Nature's Aphrodisiacs, Nickell's surveys and carefully examines the
latest research on natural aphrodisiacs for initiating, restoring, or
augmenting human sexuality for men and women. There have been folk lore
and folk medicine with respect to substances found in nature and thought
to enhanced human sexuality. Nickell's explores the question as to whether
or not there are scientific explanations or verifications for everything
from oysters to powdered rhinoceros horn. Nature's Aphrodisiacs clearly
separates fact from fiction, and superstition from science, as the non-specialist
general reader is capably informed as to what genuine aphrodisiacs really
are, and what they can do when properly administered. Very highly recommended
for personal, academic, and community library human sexuality reading
lists and reference collections.
Sexual
Magick
Sex,
Drugs and Magick
by Robert Anton Wilson.
R. A. Wilson's early book on secret orders of
the old and drugs of today. Mystics and psychedelics, cops and addicts.
Promiscuity and frigidity. All of these are taken into account, which
is definately a scholarly look into the world of drugs and whether or
not they are dangerous as well as the uses for them and their user intentions.
Each chapter looks in depth into a different drug, there are 5 main
drugs: LSD, Cocaine, Alcohol, Marijuana, and Heroin. After each chapter
there is a story that gives a personal account of someone RAW met whom
had troubles with dugs, either of addiction or some other problem that
drugs helped or caused damage. Overall its an objective look into drugs,
although Wilson gives some hints that he is pro-drugs (by the fact that
he himslef clearly states his use of drugs). However, like Leary and
Crowley, the use of drugs should be used moderately, intelligently and
with a guide.
The reason this book did not get 5 stars is because A) there are so
many mispellings in this book that New Falcon should look it over again,
or whoever edits this book should be replaced. B) R. A. Wilson, although
it is quite clear in how intelligent he is, and his comprehension level
is amazing, yet he takes a complex subject like the works of Aleister
Crowley and explains the message behind the veil (perhaps it can be
argued of what Crowley is really saying, but this is what I gatehred
in the reading). Robert A. Wilson shows Crowleys work in a new light,
certainly, but it was too explanatory and made Crowleys work too obvious
to enjoy the mystery behind the works of the great Magician. Nonetheless,
however, I feel its a good companion to the rest of Wilson's work, and
by right it fits in niceley.
Wilson has done a great job researching his material showing both the
cons and pros of drugs which would make one not only more aware of the
drug they choose (if they choose, as well as drugs in themselves), but
also being aware of the circumstances surrounding them as well as consequences.
Recommended with this book is Timothy Leary's book "The
Delicious Grace of Moving One's Hand."
This classic explains how drugs have been used through the ages as paths
to mystical experience. The pros and cons of drug use with the help
of Tim Leary and Aliester Crowley. A must read for Higher Awareness.
"This book takes a rather interesting point of view that will not
sit well with those who do not think... To do the quality and type of
work pointed out here is well beyond the capabilities of the average.
An intelligent reviewer might find themselves practicing sex, pranyama
and the ingestion of THC while keeping strict and accurate journals
that may be peer reviewed." (Amazon Review)
Fragrant
Magic: Modern Spells and Rituals to Evoke the Protective Powers of Perfume
Magic
by Eason Cassandra
No
review yet--but it looks fascinating.
Modern Sex Magick
by Donald Kraig
This book is great for anyone starting out in Magick. Even if you're
not aspiring to be a sex magickian, the information is useful and Kraig
points out that even the non-sexual practicioner would benefit greatly
just from the experience of experimenting with it. Be forewarned that
some of the historical data Kraig suggests is questionable, and there
are some assertions made about the OTO which I am uncertain about the
accuracy of. But it is definitely refreshing to see an author writing
so extensively about sex magick who is somewhat familiar with systems
such as the Golden Dawn and OTO. He also is very clear about the differences
between Tantra and Sex Magick, which puts Kraig miles ahead of many
current writer's on the subject.
Sex
Magic, Tantra & Tarot: The Way of the Secret Lover
by Christopher S. Hyatt, Lon Milo Duquette
First of all this book is simple to understand and the directions are
quite clear. This is a book that can change you for the better if you
work it. Its a way of using the tarot in a special reading "not
an ordinary divination" to know of yourself on a more deeper level.
It will prepare you for Kundalini and the knowledge and conversation
of you Holy Gaurdian Angel. Even if you like I have had in the past
and still have the knowledge and conversation this book can help you
on a more deeper level. It uses the systems of Tantra, Sex Magick and
Ceremonial Magick to achieve this. It also has a chapter on how the
Tarot and the Tree of Life and Qabalah are all put together. This book
is great for those who wish to have this High Magickal experience, it
should not be passed by. The book is 191 pages but dont let that fool
you as there is a wealth of information here.
Secrets
Of Western Sex Magic
by Frater U.:D.:
This book is German Occult Sex Magic
at its finest and most practical.
It
is about magic, about using your sexual energy, releasing it, and bringing
about changes.
Finally, a book on sex magick
clearly written for both men and women, removing the patriarchal bias
common to most texts of this genre. 'Secrets of Western Sex Magic' is
aimed at consensual adults of any sexual preference or orientation,
be they gay, straight, or bisexual. Even going so far as to state that
`there is no such thing as total heterosexuality, as there is no such
thing as total homosexuality' (pg 162); while in principle I agree,
I am certain this will be a point of contention amongst many readers.
He suggests that the practitioner aim for the more balanced androgyne,
as he says: `Without making needless distinctions, traditional attachments
and moral codes are set aside in favor of `Do what thou Wilt'. For the
sex mystic, sexuality is a holy expression of one's highest destiny
anyway' (pg xii).
Frater U.: D.: does an excellent job laying the ground work and getting,
or informing the magician the `right' state or frame of mind, noting
that `...it is not necessary to become a perfected, fear-free being
to practice sex magic. It is only necessary to face up one's own fears
and inhibitions with brutal frankness. If magic shall actually lead
to freedom, than it must be transpersonal freedom, optimum in breadth
of choice, and not some predefined norm which once more degrades humanity
and wants to impose some new straightjacket' (pg 16).
U.: D.: refers to western magick as `applied mythology', referencing
many ideas found within chaos magick, noting that `it does not matter
which of the models you choose so long as it convinces you
personally.' Recommending that one should `become familiar
with as many models as possible, because each system has its limits
and flexibility is needed for magic' (pg 83), instead taking magickal
theories and ideas as `mythical truths' rather than restrictive objective
absolutes. Though he cautions that one `should not overdo the individuality
of our own correspondences. It is useful to follow traditional correspondences
for metals, numbers, colors, gems an deities because they have a certain
consistency.' While commenting on the power of `traditional' symbols,
because `to use them is to tune into the traditional `current' of these
magical symbols, making it easier to work with other magicians from
a common basis' (pg 80).
The
Wiccan Credo is a Wiccan poem.
Some Wiccans believe that it was written circa 1910 CE by Adriana Porter.
Others suggest that it was created during the very early years of Gardnerian
Witchcraft, during the 1940s and 1950s.
1 It includes the text of the main Wiccan rule of behavior, the Wiccan
Rede, and a reference to the Threefold Law.
The third last
stanza refers to the Threefold Law. It states, in part:
"Mind
the Threefold Law you should,
Three times bad and three times good."
The end of the
Credo contains one version of the Wiccan Rede. It reads:
"Eight
words the Wiccan Rede fulfill:
An' it harm none,
Do what ye will.
Blessed Be to thee."
