RAINBOW
TEARS
Beth
spent ten years
Sleeping beside rivers
Under plastic tarps
Following Rainbows.
She was 25 years old when we met
And talked about life.
She was almost crying
And sometimes she did cry.
She said her boyfriend
If you could call him that
Didn't even know her last name
Or her birthday
And he didn't care
Whether she even came home
Or not.
They had no way of making money.
They were always broke.
Not that money mattered.
But she felt she was getting old
At twenty-five
And was frightened to wonder
What she would be doing at
Thirty-five.
Dream Catcher
Drum
Hawk Feather in her blond hair
Celt Sister
From lost mists of time
Come Forward
MASK
OF TIME
She
lies among little stalactites
On a bed of lovely mineral colors
She has brought a mask
Which sports a slightly protrouding tongue
And red hair
Like a resurrected Cro-magnon
Celt Shaman
Who has waited in the cave
Twenty thousand years
For her
To come lay with him.
But Margarita
Is herself an ancient celt shaman
And she calls forth
Tongues with mystic powers
Of undulation and adoration
Pagan rites
And hot springs nights
BREASTS
AND SAGE
The
oldest art
That archeologists
Have ever unearthed
Is a pair of breasts
Carved of flint
Carbon dated at 500,000
Years old.
Sage
For the wise hearts
Who love the ancient ways.
For you
The truth is reborn
And you will turn
To the sound of children crying
And you will turn
To frogs and Salmon and eagles dying
And you will turn
To the sound of ancient trees falling
And you will turn
To the Heart of nature calling
And you will turn
To the Heart of God
And to the Mother
Of us all
And you
Will make old ways
Born anew

SHADOWS
IN HER FACE
She
is a concert violinist
She has distant sophisticated eyes
Since childhood she has interpreted
Deep classical pieces
And naturally
It has profoundly affected the manner in which
She perceives the world.
Her ancestors
Are Spanish Gypsies.
Do you ever think of how passion-filled people
Like Gypsies
Have been exterminated
So often
By the prosaic hordes
Who could not understand them?
And the result?
More Passion.
I photographed her
In a graveyard
In the summer
Naked
On the tombstone
Of a WWI aeroplane pilot
Named Chauncey.
